In 1985, Ken Nelson carved a lake out of an abandoned gravel pit south of Edmonton — 2,100 feet long, 300 feet wide, oriented and bermed to kill wind and backwash. It was the first man-made lake in Canada designed exclusively for waterski sports.
Forty years of tree growth later, the windbreaks are mature, the water runs glass, and world records have fallen here. Competitive skiers have ranked it among the top ten waterski sites in the world.*
